"Through a two-stage architecture competition, we're looking for fresh perspectives so that we get the best possible ideas for the development of the factory area of Arabia. Apartments, offices, retail premises and services could come to the area. In addition, premises might suit the area where artists, entrepreneurs, associations and the residents of the area can work and meet," says Tuomas Vaarasalo, Construction Manager at Varma .
The residents of the area are invited to take part
In the development of the area, the ideas and suggestions of the residents of the Arabia area are also taken on board. The residents can comment on the works submitted for tender and vote for their favorites on the competition site www.arabia135.fi.
The development proposals for the area will be shown to the public at large on the 3rd floor of the Arabia Center, at Hämeentie 135. The exhibition is open from the 14th of May to the 20th, Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm and Mondays through to Fridays from 12 to 8 pm. In June, the jury of the architecture competition will select the competition works from among the development proposals that go on to the second stage of the competition.
